OptiFlow Pullplug DN50

OptiFlow
The revoltuonary full flow valve techs for IBC liners with hygienic integrated disposal valves.
In contrast with the common cutter membrane discharge system , the hygienic liner-integrated valve operates as a simple but effective tap and offers simple, clean partial discharge, savings of time and cost in the cleaning of secondary valves and spillages; reduced risk of contamination; reduced wastage of product. In addition, where there is a partial discharge of product, that may be followed by a significant periodof storage, before a further discharge, that is a reduced risk of leakage. Horen entered the IBC market by helping customers to develop a better valve to meet higher requirements from the market. Businesses needed more unique valves and looked to Horen as the innovator in the industry to develop affordable valves and fittings for IBC’s.
The OptiFlow™ range of valves was designed with such a background and it is the only portfolio of full flow hygienic liner-integrated valves for IBC products available in the world. Unlike the traditional butterfly valves, HOREN’s OptiFlow™ valve range provides a full unrestricted flow of product during discharge, providing a 33% improvement in flow rates and reduction in overall container discharge time. New products are constantly being added to our portfolio many of which have been specifically designed to solve the unique handling needs of our clients. Should our existing range of products not fulfill your needs we would be happy to discuss a new potential solution.
 WE HAVE SOLVED THE WEAKNESSES OF EXISTING VALVES
Working closely with our customers, the Horen engineering team develops fully capable manufacturing systems that meet and exceed customers’ quality and time-to-market objectives. The effective program management and close customer communications ensure that all expectations are met and a long-term, cost-effective manufacturing solution is achieved. The OptiFlow™ range of discharge valves have been on our drawing board for nearly 3 years. We have taken the knowledge gained from finding the weaknesses of existing valves on the markets and used it to create our own patented cost effective ball valves. Some of these valve weaknesses are;

Low flow rates
Not useable for aseptic operations;
Heavy torque of valve handle;
Valves not resealing causing accidental product loss;
Tamper evident systems being difficult to operate.

OptiFlow™FULL FLOW VALVE TECHS
ACHIEVED THE MAXI-FLOW RATE
The flow rate of a conventional valve depends upon the degree of opening, the pressure, and the shape. We use unique full flow valve member shapes instead of the traditional butterfly valve to increase the flow rate.
DISCHARGE TIME PER 1000 LITRES
The test proves that the flow rate of OptiFlow™ range DN50 is higher than the traditional Butterfly valve. The OptiFlowTM is approximately 33% more efficient which helps reduce costs and leads to increased production efficiencies.
OptiFlow™PULLPLUG DN50 DISCHARGE VALVE
THE MOST COMPACT VALVE FOR VARIOUS TYPES OF IBCS
There are many different types of IBC’s on the market such as plastic , steel ,cardboard and wooden IBC’s, but almost all of them have one thing in common, in that they only have the small sump outlet designed for a cutter membrane discharge gland. In order to install international standard liners with integrated valves in these IBC’s, Horen has had to“re-invent the wheel” with the Pullplug DN50. Not only does the Pullplug overcome the problem of the small sump outlet in these IBC’s it also overcomes many other deficiencies associated with existing valve technology.
The Pullplug DN50 has been designed with a very compact profile. The “Plug” valve member connects with valve housing via a hinge. The Plug valve member has gasket which is integrated with the valve member directly; the flange and housing are made by integrated injection molding; foldable handle saves the space for operation and is good for liner welding; optional sump clip ensure Pullplug DN50 to be used with not only steel, paper IBCs, but also foldable plastic IBCs.
UNIQUE PULL PLUG SEAL INTEGRATED SYSTEM
The operation of traditional liner-integrated butterfly valve member is driven by the rotation of a valve handle in the middle of valve housing which reduces the flow rate by more than 35%. When the butterfly valve is closed, the seal is not good and leaks easily. It is also hard to open the valves.

The valve member of OptiFlow™ Pullplug DN50 connects with housing by a hinge. The valve member rotates with the central axis of hinge to realize the open and close status. When the Pullplug DN50 is open, there is no obstacle in the valve channel and that’s why Pullplug DN50 has the maximum flow rate. There are many benefits of hinge connection: Simple compact construction,
Easy operation,
Light torque,
Wide unrestricted flow rate,
Easy to clean.
FOLDABLE VALVE HANDLE
The valve-integrated liner is made by welding the gland of the valve to the liner itself. In the beginning most IBC liners were welded with the 2” cutter membrane discharge glands and the end user had to connect an external valve to discharge the liquid from the liner. With the Horen system the gland size is small and compact so it is easily welded onto the liner.
When the Horen OptiFlow™ Pullplug DN50 integrated handle is folded down the valve is small enough to allow it to be welded to the liner. Another advantage of the Horen OptiFlow Pullplug is that it can be directly installed intothe sump of the metal IBC’s without having to remove the handle. When the user needs to discharge the liner they only need to erect the integrated handleand rotate it.
ONE-STEP TAMPER EVIDENCE
Horen has developed an innovative temper evidence solution for the Pullplug DN50 which is attached directly to the valve lid and is easy to operate and very secure. Our tamper evidence gives you the peace of mind knowing that your valuable product is protected and that the valve has not been opened.
You can customize the colours of the tamper evident clip and also print unique identification codes on each individual tamper evident clip.
HOREN SUMP CLIP IS OPTIONAL
With the introduction of plastic IBC’s into the market there has been an increase in the number of IBC accessories being made available including many kinds of liner-integrated valves. The traditional plastic IBC sump was designed for the cutter membrane discharge gland but has now been made larger to accommodate all of the additional valves and fittings. To allow these valves to be used in both in both the old and new generation IBC the Horen valve sump clip was invented.
 OptiFlow™ Pullplug DN50 without sump clip is compatible with all kind of steel, cardboard or wooden IBCs and is also compatible with the new plastic foldable IBC by the use of the f sump clip.

MORE THAN 5 PATENTS PENDING
WORLDWIDE
  1. Unique hinge connection with valve member. Light torque to open and close; valve member connects under pressure to the gasket for better sealing function;
    2. LLDPE housing and flange are one part which can be welded directly to liner;
    3. Sump clip is an option to allow the valve to be used with many different kinds of IBC. The sump clip makes it easy to install and uninstall the valve with the IBC.
    4. Foldable handle allows the valve to be welded easily with the liner without having to remove the handle. The foldable handle can avoid handle being lost during transportation.
    5. The Screw cap locks the handle in place avoiding accidental opening of the valve and loss of product.
    6. The gasket on the plug valve member is by TPE tech to improve manufacture efficiency without leaking risk.
    7. Sealing device on top of handle avoids any leaking risk.
    8. Less obstacles in the valve channel maximize the flow rate.
    9. TE clips are pre-fitted with unique TE numbers these increase security and give added protection from unauthorized use.

Next Generation IBC Offered by CHEP Pallecon

Provided by Horen plastics, Horen liquid container, OF1040
CHEP iCONIC 1iCONIC, a next generation plastic intermediate bulk container (IBC), is a new offering from CHEP Pallecon Solutions. The global leader in container pooling solutions says that the new IBC, available in the 1000mm x 1200mm international footprint, has been developed to response to growing demand for IBC packaging that can be shipped across continents. If generates sustainable cost advantages, efficiency improvements and waste reduction.
The new IBC delivers a number of improvements over CHEP Pallecon Solutions’ current reusable and returnable plastic IBC. “We introduced the foldable plastic container 10 years ago and are continuingly looking at enhancing our range of products, by adopting new technology”, reports John Plummer, Director Sales – Asia-Pacific. “The iCONIC will address a unique set of challenges that arise from moving, protecting and storing semi-bulk dry and liquid products. The new IBC ensures safe loading and unloading and offers improved product protection with minimal handling.”
Better Return Ratio for Empty IBC
An improved folding ratio of 3.5:1 is achievable through iCONIC’s innovative design.  The reduction in collapsed container height results in 98 containers that can be stacked in a standard truck compared to 60 for earlier generation IBCs. As a result of this improvement in transport space utilisation, the total quantity of trucks required and CO2 emissions both decrease. The iCONIC is also totally recyclable, which reduces one-use product consumption and the resulting carbon footprint.
Featuring lightweight plastic construction, the iCONIC proides superior durability and product protection. It has a large carrying capacity of 1040 litres, which holds more than 25 percent greater content, in the same space as four 200 litre drums. The container utilises a new liner on each trip, eliminating product contamination and avoiding the costly process of cleaning and sanitising drums & containers after each use.
“With innovative design features, that have not been seen on any previous IBC in the pooling market, the iCONIC provides our customers with a cost effective solution for the movement of bulk product through their supply chain”, Mr Plummer adds. “The ability to ship & decant more product in one unit will ensure users reduce costs, both in transport and in-plant handling”.
The iCONIC is fitted with non-sequential folding panels and the lid slides & locks on the back panel. This makes it easier and faster to set up and collapse than traditional bag-in-box systems and the built-in 4-way entry pallet base, improves handling efficiencies. The sloping pallet base results in greater discharge of product and the anti-slip locators on the steel reinforced base ensure the units can be safely stacked.
With an extensive range of packaging solutions available across the globe, the iCONIC will complement CHEP’s current range of integrated solutions available for movement of product and can be used in conjunction with its existing suite of food grade liner bag solutions.

Horen Release New 1200x1000mm Foldable Plastics Liquid IBCs OptiFlow™1040

Horen, the leader in the plastic bulk foldable packaging, has released a new foldable plastic liquid IBCs product, OptiFlow1040(OF1040). OF1040 dramatically reduces costs in comparison with alternative intermediate bulk container systems that use drums, steel IBCs or even similar plastic foldable IBCs products. The foldable bag-in-box container concept simplifies handling throughout the logistics process and, as OF1040 is returnable and reusable, substantially reduces the use of packaging materials compared to one trip IBC solutions.

The Horen team has spent more than five years researching and developing the OptiFlow™ OF1040 IBC. Horen have devised innovative manufacturing technologies to create an IBC that is super strong, extremely robust and easy to handle.

OF1040 has international standard size. Many customers need to transport products from one country to another. By adopting the international size of 1200mm x 1000mm Horen’s OF1040 enables the efficient movement of product between countries and continents. It is easily used across any Intermodal transportation. International standard sizing of the OF 1040 enables simple compatibility and ease of transfers ensuring it can be used in every corner of the world.

3.5:1, OF1040 has the highest folding ratio of any IBC currently on the market. The Folding rate is a very important attribute of a foldable container. It decides how much space can be saved in a warehouse or truck when the container is folded. Space is closely related to cost. Horen’s IBC has the lowest folding rate on the current market. For a 2.6m standard trailer, it can take 182 pieces of the Horen IBC but only 130 pieces of other IBCs. For a 3m mega road train, it can take 240 pieces of the Horen IBC but only 180 pieces of other IBCs. This huge improvement will lead to direct cost savings within the liquid industry supply chain. With reduced costs comes increased competitiveness.

Great innovation has enabled Horen to create the OF1040; the smartest reusable, folding container in the world. Horen has applied more than 30 patents in the development of the OF 1040. Horen continue to push technological boundaries to ensure we can provide the most efficient and innovative products to the liquid handling industry.

The lid of an IBC plays an important role in protecting the liner and also preventing excess movement of the liner contents during transportation. Conventional IBC lids are heavy and difficult to use and often requires 2 people to operate. Horen has addressed this issue with the hanging lid system which allows the lid to be easily opened and closed by one person. There is also the added advantage of not having to find somewhere to store the lid when the IBC is opened as it conveniently hangs on the back wall of the IBC.

The lid has been designed with self locking handles. To close the lid the operator only needs to press down on the lid and the locks will engage automatically. There are hand hold areas on the lid which allow the operator to easily fit the lid onto the IBC. A full set of instructions of how to fold and unfold the IBC and how to operate the lid have been molded onto the lid surface. A tamper evident clip with unique security number can be placed over the handles keeping the contents of the IBC safe. The lid has been designed to automatically drain off an excess liquid.

The OF1040 has a double smooth base design, more hygienic and stronger than one smooth base. Three skids base with steel reinforcement to increase strength. Anti-slip rubbers on the base keep the container from slipping on the forklift tines. Pallet base design has stainless re-enforced blocks feet and 4 corner feet to reduce FLT damage. The stainless steel pallet foot protectors will need to be sealed so that there can be no risk of contamination behind them. The base can be equipped with RFID in the opposing feet of the unit to help track the movement of product. The base slopes from the back of the unit towards the sump so that any excess liquid will automatically escape out of the drainage holes positioned in the bottom of the sump. This function ensures rain or any other liquid does not get trapped in the base of the IBC.

The base allows the use of specially designed HBB (Heater Base Boards). HBB’s can remain inside the IBC even when the container is folded. A specially designed cavity allows for the power cord of the HBB to go through the wall of the IBC.

The OF 1040 has a very generous sump space allowing for easy valve handle application. The sump cover will attach to the IBC wall panel when open, through the use of a magnetic device. The sump cover will return to its original closed position automatically when the panels are folded. The Sump cover has a tamper evidence (TE) function. A TE clip with security number can be attached when the sump is locked.

Non-sequential folding allows for quick and easy assembly and collapsing. A patented and robust hinge design enables easy installation and removal of the wall panels without the use of any special tools. The side panels are reinforced by metal tubes. All panels are double smooth, hygienic and durable. The long side panels have an anti-collapsing device that holds the wall in place to protect the worker. OF1040 has an easily maneuverable, reinforced drop door. All steps associated with opening and closings are quick and easy. The Drop door allows the liners to be easily installed.

Specially positioned sight glasses allow the user to quickly identify the liquid level in the container. This is optional. Also we have embossed a liter level gauge on the inside of the back panel. The ‘ear’ slots on the top of the wall panels allow the use of a bag roller.
